Equity Illuminated (EI) is more than an educational consultancy –
its a collective force for positive change and a commitment to an inclusive society where everyone has the resources to thrive.
The team behind EI has committed their adult lives to highlighting the growing cultural, gender, sex, racial,
and economic divides and working to build equitable, sustainable, and collaborative spaces across various backgrounds and identity groups.
Drawing upon the knowledge and lived experiences of its LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community members, Carie and Ninochka work to gain a comprehensive understanding of the unique obstacles faced by historically marginalized groups within organizations and institutions, EI goes beyond mere rhetoric of inclusion by using abolitionist, decolonial, and anti-racist frameworks to center impacted voices and challenge the power structures established through colonialism and capitalism.
Who We Are
Owned and operated by Dr. Ninochka McTaggart, PhD, an author, researcher,and scholar, and Carie Martin, D.Ac., M.S. Ac, a healthcare provider turned law fellow, the team brings a combined three decades of experience to their work.
Lifelong best friends Carie and Ninochka have spent decades engaged in progressive social activism, from their early days protesting to educating professionals across various industries about the social disparities that have contributed to today’s inequity and unrest
